Torre David - Informal Vertical Communities: Energy

As part of the team involved in the acclaimed Torre David project, Winner of the Golden Lion at the Biennale of Architecture in Venice, SuAT contributed novel and exemplary concepts for future energy supply and infrastructure. Following a strategy of sustainability, SuAT tailored to improve the quality of life of Torre David’s 3000 inhabitants by providing better access to energy, water supply and vertical mobility. Therefore the efficient use of renewable and non-renewable resources and the need to maintain the social interactions existent in the site was crucial.

Considering the efficient use of renewable and non-renewable ressources as well as maintaining and fostering social interaction, the innovative solutions presented by SuAT sought to couple local energy sources, community potentials with the in situ architecture to achieve a sustainable transformation.
